ECO SISTEMAS' Holistic EcoProject

ECO SISTEMAS' team experience since 1989, as specialists and coaching guides to all sorts of local and international clients, resulted in the development of methodologies and guidelines for Permaculture and Healing practices and in the formulation of the Holistic EcoProject, started up in 2011 with the help of local community and international visitors and volunteers at:

1. A Holistic Center by the Sea, in Salvador da Bahia, mainly to research and develop holistic wellfare therapies and practices and urban permaculture.

2. An EcoFarm, for permaculture practice and healing retreat, developed in a 80 ha. piece of land, the "Sitio Nascente das Aguas", located  within a nature reserve, in the mountains of Chapada Diamantina, Bahia, Brazil, some 600 Km from Salvador da Bahia.

3. A Global Network of Permaculture and Healing Centers, weaved throughout the world, by exchanging visits, methodologies and volunteers.

1. Volunteering at the Holistic Center by the sea, in Salvador da Bahia, Brazil

We offer volunteering opportunities and accommodation, to help, participate, evaluate and research reiki, tantra and other natural therapies, relaxing and energizing practices, gardening and painting, for a few days.

No experience is necessary for volunteering, only willingness and open mind to help and learn.

We also welcome visiting experienced permaculturalists, therapiststs and Holistic practicioners of all sorts of traditions who want to contribute and exchange with us or teach to the public.

Some specific VOLUNTEERING needs to be done at the Holistic Center (2016-2017), also include:

2. Volunteering at the EcoFarm, in Chapada Diamantina, Bahia, Brazil

The main objective of the Holistic EcoProject at the EcoFarm is to study and implement diverse ways to increase the ecological and economic sustainability, productivity and the environmental protection within the "Area of Relevant Ecological Interest" (ARIE) at Serra da Tromba, close to the Chapada Diamantina National Park and, specifically through the experimental application of Permaculture.

As a consequence and result to the community around us, an awareness, training and educational program and seed exchange program is also within our aims.

Some volunteers selected during their initial stay at the Holistic Center in Salvador are invited to help at our EcoFarm in Chapada Diamantina during 2-4 weeks, mainly in permaculture with bio-construction, organic farming of coffee, fruits and vegetable garden.

Current Volunteering Tasks (2016-2017) at the EcoFarm:

 . Coffee, fruits and native forest seedling and planting

 . Enhancement of the access road to the EcoFarm;

 . Building of gates and enhancement of the fence built around the property;

 . Preparation, seedling and development of the vegetable garden;

 . Maintenance and construction of compost pits;

 . Earth-worm farming (building of new unit with leachate drainage)

 . Construction of deposit for dead vegetation (mulching)

 . Bee farming

 . Native plants (medicinal and edible) inventory

 . Water solar heater construction and new solar panels installation

 . Enhancement of the firewall in the South border of property

 . Painting of kitchen wall

 . Murals painting

 . Keyline design

 . Bocashi and biofertilizers

 . PDC (in-house)

Procedures and conditions for VOLUNTEERING

We offer accommodation and volunteers may use the kitchen at the Holistic Center in Salvador and at the EcoFarm in Chapada Diamantina, Bahia.

There is nobody living permanently at the EcoFarm. Sometimes volunteers and interns live an work there by themselves but help and guidance is provided by our local coordinator and neighbor who lives at 1 Km distance from the ECO-Project site. We facilitate on-site lodging at the Mountain Refuge to volunteers and interns with an agreed work proposal according to the priorities of the ECO-Project. We also provide tools and materials for the agreed tasks.

There is no electricity from the grid at the Mountain Refuge as we have solar panel illumination and connections to re-charge cellphone, camera and computer batteries. There is cellphone and Internet coverage in the area by Tim Sim card.
